The history starts from the 1960s with Kanwal Grover, father of Indian viticulture, and is being enriched with every generation.
To give life to his passion, Mr.Kanwal Grover created Grover Vineyards with the help of Mr. George Vesselle, who was Technical Director of Vineyards for Champagne Mumm.
Between late 70’s to 1988, Mr.Kanwal Grover and Mr.Georges Vesselle carried out a deep study of soil and climate across India to find the best suitable terroir to grow vine in India.
Experimentation with 33 French varietals for 9 years in short listed regions; Maharashtra, Andhra Pradeshand Karnataka. Finally Nandi Hills in Karnataka was selected to develop vineyards. It was the beginning of a long adventure with French varietals.
When Mr. Georges Vesselle retired, Mr.Kanwal Grover looked for new expertise. While travelling in Bordeaux, he was introduced to Michel Rolland, the world’s most in fluential Oenologist. He saw in Mr.Kanwal Grover a genuine man with great passion and finally accepted an offer to visit India and look at our vineyards.
